Dr Vicky O’Dwyer is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Rotunda Hospital. “I love my job. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else” says Vicky, a mum of three, who believes her own experience has influenced her practice. “I think having been pregnant and having children has made me a better obstetrician”
Vicky completed a maternal medicine fellowship in 2017. She then went on to run a National preterm prevention clinic and work as part of a specialist maternal medicine team In the National Maternity Hospital.
Vicky spent 2 years working in the UCD Centre for Human Reproduction exploring the relationship between maternal body composition and caesarean section. She has a medical doctorate and has published extensively on the topic of caesarean section. She has spoken at Wellfest Ireland and the Pregnancy and Baby Fair in the RDS.
“The most rewarding part of my job is looking after someone through there pregnancy, whether it is straight forward or there are a few bumps in the road, and to see them at the end of the journey both happy and well.” Says Vicky.
Dr Vicky O’Dwyer has a special interest in ambulatory gynaecology. She is the lead colposcopist for the Rotunda Hospital. She performs outpatient hysteroscopy in James Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.
