The Alexander Technique is a system about body awareness, finding natural alignment and achieving easier, fluid movement to overcome musculoskeletal problems. Michaela has been teaching the Alexander Technique for 18 years. She enjoys guiding and training pregnant women, giving them the tools to enjoy their pregnancy with ease of movement and breathing freely while minimizing back and joint pain.
Michaela was the Assistant Director of the Alexander Technique Teacher’s Training College in Galway for 12 years. In 2016 she became a lead-tutor at The Lir Academy, Ireland’s National Academy of Dramatic Art at Trinity College.
You’ll learn how to relieve common ailments such as back pain, neck pain and sciatica and adjusting alignment with a changing body and to allow for easier breathing (an excellent tool during labour). Michaela offers individual session and short introductory workshops. It’s best to start as early as possible – ideally from 3 months.
I love working with pregnant women. During pregnancy, a woman’s body is changing rapidly. It’s important to develop good habits early on to help avoid back pain or when aches occur to learn how to relieve them during pregnancy and after baby is born.”
